Cigdem Kagitçibaçi

Cigdem Kagitcibasi is professor of psychology at Koc University, İstanbul, Turkey. She was a visiting professor at Duke, Columbia, Harvard, and University of California, Berkeley and has been twice a fellow of the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS). She is a founding member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences. She served as the vice president of the International Union of Psychological Science and of the International Social Science Council; she was elected the first woman president and subsequently honorary fellow of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology. She has received awards from American Psychological Association, International Association of Applied Psychology, and European Developmental Psy­chology Association, among others. Her international publications include 13 (co)authored or (co)edited books and 168 journal articles/book chapters. Her work spans both academic/theoretical and professional/applied spheres, best represented in her book, Family, Self and Human Development Across Cultures: Theory and Applications (2007).
