Desislava Taneva was born on June 9, 1972 in the city of Sliven.
She graduated from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia. She holds a Degree in Law from Burgas Free University.
From 1995 to 1996, she worked in the private agriculture sector.
In 2007 she was Chairman of the City Council of Sliven.
In 2009 she was elected Member of Parliament from the political party of GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria).
From 2009 to 2013, she was Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Forestry, and from 2013 to 2014 - member of the Committee on Agriculture and Food to the National Assembly.
She holds management and control qualifications.
She was elected Minister of Agriculture and Food of November 7, 2014 by the 43rd National Assembly.
